What is Chelation?
68Chelation
Chelation is a term in chemistry which is used to describe a process by which a substance forms a tight bond around a metal or mineral, so that it can be removed from the body safely and easily. Many people have used chelation as a type of homeopathic treatment to treat a variety of problems.
One of the most common uses of chelation is to expel the body of heavy, toxic metals like, mercury or aluminum. Both of these metals can cause serious problems if they have an abundant presence in our bodies. Typically, this isn't common however; Aluminum toxicity has been linked to Alzheimer's disease.
Chelation has also been said to improve cell function, cure gangrene, increase your blood circulation, slow aging process, help atherosclerosis, and a variety of other things but, most of these claims are not well documented and cannot be proven.
EDTA or, ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, is one of the more common substances that are used for chelation. Its chemical structure allows it to wrap itself around the atom of the metal or mineral, in order to expel it from the body.
Other chelating agents used are, Dimercaprol (BAL),DMSA, Desfuroxamine Mesylate, and D-penicillamine. Although the reactions with these agents are similar, different chelating agents are used based on what mineral or metal you are trying to rid yourself of. Some are just better than others.
Even though chelation seems like a wonderful way to remove yourself of metal toxicity or, poisoning, this is a process that is only recommended when a person has tried everything else. It is not recommended to use if you are trying to get other benefits from it like, preventing heart disease.
There are natural chelation agents that are said to work just as well and, are much safer for you. Cilantro has been said to be used to remove heavy metals. Silicon is said to remove Aluminum from the body. Garlic is another natural chelating agent that appears to do well in assisting the body of ridding itself of metal toxins. Also, a daily dose of apple cider vinegar is argued to be great for chelating.
It is best to do your own research to find out what natural chelating agent will work best for you. There are many but, for each person, it could be different due to allergies, or maybe it's just a matter of what tastes better.

Great information, thanks for sharing this Tuesday.=) I kinda remember the great dragon emperor of china. I wonder if you have heard about him. The man who united all 7 kingdoms during the waring age of china. He is a great leader, and a military genius, but the greatest mistake he ever did, had cause him the very thing he never wanted to lose. He died because of Mercury intake, believing that taking mercury will make him immortal. if only this concept was there during his time. he could have been saved. I voted up and useful.=)
